Supply Chain Coordinator

Keeping our network running smoothly depends on strong relationships with suppliers, a firm grip on contracts, and solid data to back it all up. That's where you come in.

As Supply Chain Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in making sure our procurement and supply chain team has everything it needs to deliver great value and make smart decisions. You'll help manage our supplier data, maintain key industry contracts, and provide reporting that gives real insight into how we spend and where we can improve.

You'll also support our connections with other train operators across the UK, helping to coordinate the contracts and station access agreements that keep services joined up and customers moving. If you love order, clarity, and detail - and want your work to make a difference across a business that touches millions of lives - this is your platform.

What you'll be doing

Coordinating supply chain data and creating performance reports to support procurement and other teams Using systems to monitor spend and supplier activity, helping us spot ways to save money and work more efficiently Supporting purchasing and supplier teams by keeping vendor information up to date and accurate Helping us manage internal documentation and stay compliant with procurement policies Maintaining and reviewing contracts and agreements with other train operators (TOCs), especially around station access Acting as an admin lead in industry discussions and ensuring agreements meet regulatory requirements

About you

Strong analytical thinking, a flair for organising information, and a knack for building good working relationships - that's three things you'll bring to the table.

You'll need to be confident using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, and ideally have some experience working with procurement systems or business reporting tools. If you've worked with supplier data or in a contract-heavy environment, that's even better.

We're after someone who can balance multiple priorities and stay calm under pressure. Someone who spots problems before they grow, and isn't afraid to suggest a better way of doing things.

Why Northern?

We're more than just a train operator. We're the heartbeat of the North - connecting communities, creating opportunities, and driving sustainable growth. With 2,500 trains running daily, we're on a mission to improve rail travel and enhance the customer experience while protecting the environment.

Back in 1825, the first passenger train set off in the North of England, after which rail quickly spread across the globe - and this year, we're celebrating 200 years of the modern railway. As we look back on the historic events that led us here, we also look towards the future as we move into the era of Great British Rail. Join us at this pivotal moment in rail history and play your part in our journey.

A place for everyone

The best journeys happen when everyone feels welcome on board.

At Northern, we don't just move people from A to B - we're building a team where everyone feels they belong. Our talent team can make reasonable adjustments to the process if that's something you need. We're also a Level 2 Disability Confident employer, so if you meet the minimum criteria for the role, we'll always offer an interview.

We automate parts of our screening process to remove any unconscious bias and to make sure every application is treated fairly. All successful offers will be subject to a DBS check and a medical assessment.

No matter your background, experience, or whether you call it a bap, barm, or cob... there's a place for you here in the railway.
