The Support Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our residential facilities. They are responsible for overseeing all aspects of housekeeping, meal planning, maintenance, activities, and environmental services to maintain a clean, safe, enjoyable, and comfortable living environment for our residents. Additionally, the Support Services Coordinator will supervise and support the care staff, manage inventory and supplies, organise activities and collaborate with other departments to uphold the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular inspections of resident rooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Coordinate with maintenance contractors to address repairs and facility improvements in a timely manner.
Respond promptly to resident and staff concerns regarding maintenance issues and take appropriate action to resolve any problems.
Collaborate with residents to design menus that meet their cultural, nutritional, and dietary needs, taking into consideration any specific dietary restrictions or preferences.
Monitor food inventory, order supplies, and maintain kitchen sanitation and hygiene standards in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Organise cooking demonstrations, themed dinners, and other culinary events to engage residents and promote social interaction.
Develop and implement cleaning protocols and procedures to maintain a hygienic environment and prevent the spread of infections.
Develop and implement a comprehensive activity program that caters to the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of residents.
Collaborate with residents, family members, staff and support plans to gather input and feedback on activity preferences, ensuring activities are inclusive and enjoyable for all.
Coordinate special events and themed celebrations, such as holiday parties, birthday celebrations, and cultural festivals, to create memorable experiences for residents and their families.
Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, grocery and other household items, and place orders as needed to ensure adequate stock.
Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure effective communication within the team to maintain cohesion and efficiency.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to activities, resident performance, inventory management, and maintenance reports.
Manage resources effectively, including budget allocation, procurement of supplies, and utilisation of facilities to support activity programs and meal planning.
Qualifications and Skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Proven experience within mental health, healthcare, or social care sectors
Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products, as well as infection control principles and regulations.
Familiarity with food hygiene standards, environment safety standards, and safety procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals.
Proficiency in basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and record keeping software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift heavy objects as needed.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in emergencies.
