About the Role
We Are Care is recruiting
Children's Residential Support Workers
to join a respected care provider that supports vulnerable children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, and complex behavioural or sensory needs.
This role is hands-on and purpose-driven -- supporting children in a warm, stable, and family-style home environment. You'll play a vital role in building relationships, promoting positive routines, and helping children recover from trauma and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Children and Young People
Build secure and trusted relationships through consistent, nurturing care
Support with everyday routines: waking, personal care, meals, education, play, and bedtime
Encourage independence and participation in community activities
Engage children in sensory, therapeutic, and recreational play
Assist with personal care, where necessary
Keyworking responsibilities including care planning, reviews, and goal-setting
Implement individualised behaviour support strategies
Safeguarding & Compliance
Follow safeguarding policies and procedures
Complete reports, incident logs, and contribute to risk assessments
Support children through emotional crises using trauma-informed approaches
Work to OFSTED, Children's Homes Regulations, and Quality Care Standards
Daily Living & House Duties
Support household tasks: cleaning, cooking, budgeting, health & safety checks
Maintain a warm, clean, and safe home environment
Ensure compliance with health and safety and fire safety regulations
What We're Looking For
Essential
Experience in care, support, or youth work
Willingness to undertake Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already held)
Full UK Manual Driving Licence
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and overnight sleep-ins
Strong communication and emotional resilience
Valid Right to Work in the UK
Desirable
Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare or equivalent
Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or challenging behaviours
Familiarity with trauma-informed and therapeutic care approaches
