We're hiring a Support Worker to join a long-standing package in Colchester supporting an adult with complex health needs, epilepsy, and learning disabilities.
This client lives independently in his own bungalow and enjoys structure, reassurance, and community access with the right people around him. You'll be part of a consistent team providing stability and support on both 1:1 and 2:1 shifts. This is a great opportunity for someone confident in managing challenging behaviour and familiar with neurological conditions.
Key Support Needs:
2:1 manual handling and safe community access
Support with epilepsy and absence seizures
Monitoring medication compliance (administered by trained staff)
Verbal communication, but limited comprehension - needs routine and reassurance
Emotional support through retreat-and-reapproach technique
Supporting independence while being alert to risk and fatigue
About You:
Calm, clear communicator with experience in learning disability and epilepsy care
Confident with verbal de-escalation and managing low mood or agitation
Able to work both independently and in a team (some 2:1 care required)
Aware of how fatigue and memory can impact behaviour
Consistent, emotionally aware, and routine-focused
Driver with business insurance (essential)
