Support Carer for Child with Complex Needs (Female Only)

Location:

Private family home (location withheld for privacy)

Contract Type:

Part-time, with potential for additional hours following probation

Probation:

6 months (with review at 3 months)

Session Times (Initial)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:

Morning:

7:30 am - 8:30 am

Evening:

3:30 pm - 7:15 pm
Hours may vary during school holidays and may increase after the first 6 months, depending on family needs and a successful settling-in period.

Role Summary

We are looking for a

female support carer

to assist a child with complex needs, within the family home. The role focuses on

personal care, therapy-based activities, and daily living support

to promote her independence and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work closely with parents, therapists, and a case management team. A

calm, respectful, and patient approach

is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Support with

personal care

and daily living activities as directed by the family and therapists. Assist with

therapy exercises and developmental activities

to aid progress and wellbeing. Safely operate

specialist equipment

(e.g., wheelchair, hoist, therapy bench, sensory/play equipment). Maintain a

safe and clean environment

, including light household chores related to care. Accurately record care and activities using a

designated work phone/app

(personal devices not permitted during shifts). Attend training sessions and team meetings; contribute to care reviews and planning. Work collaboratively with family, therapists, and other carers, including potential

2:1 care arrangements

. Maintain

strict confidentiality and professionalism

at all times. After probation, be prepared to

drive her using your own vehicle

and support at community activities (e.g., hydrotherapy, parks, cafes).
Person Specification

Female applicants only

(personal care requirement). Previous experience supporting children or young people with

complex needs

preferred. Confidence in using specialist equipment and understanding

seizure management

. Comfortable assisting with

hydrotherapy

(poolside/in-water support). Physically fit: able to push wheelchairs, assist with mobility, and manage short bursts of running. Good

English communication skills

; GCSE English (and preferably Maths) or equivalent. Reliable, empathetic, and professional, with the ability to work independently and in a team. Full

UK driving licence

. Flexible availability (potential for adjusted hours or night shifts during school holidays). Prepared to undergo

background checks

and complete a structured

induction and training

programme. Willing to adhere to

family house rules

and maintain a professional appearance.
Additional Information

Privacy is paramount; the child's personal details will only be shared during later recruitment stages. The role may involve

quiet downtime

(e.g., preparing activities, reading, maintaining records) when direct care is not required. Safer recruitment checks, including
