Job Title: Support Worker (2:1 Support)

Location: Cumnock, Scotland

Hourly Rate: 12.60 per hour

Hours: 12 -hour posts flexible days but definitely a Friday (two positions available)

We are looking for three compassionate and reliable Support Workers to provide two-to-one assistance for a young lady who uses a wheelchair. She enjoys music, swimming, disco dancing, shopping at Silverburn, and eating out at Morrison's Cafe. The role involves supporting her social activities, personal care, and mobility needs while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with community activities, including shopping, dining out, and attending social events. Support her participation in swimming and disco dancing while ensuring her comfort and safety. Provide mobility assistance, including wheelchair use and safe moving & handling techniques.
. Assist with eating, drinking, cutting up food etc. Assist with personal care as required.

Be mindful of her epilepsy (well controlled) and respond appropriately if needed. Respect her preferences, including avoiding being out in the rain and being aware of challenging terrain when pushing her wheelchair uphill. Encourage independence and enjoyment in all activities.

Essential Requirements:

Experience in support work or personal care, preferably with wheelchair users. Moving & handling training (or willingness to complete training). Understanding of epilepsy and how to support someone with the condition. A caring, patient, and fun personality to engage in her favourite activities. Physically capable of pushing a heavier wheelchair user (or experience using mobility aids).

Desirable:

Experience supporting individuals in community-based activities. A confident driver willing to drive the persons Van/ vehicle (not essential but beneficial).

Post subject to successful reference and PVG checks.

Two up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition, a new PVG enhanced disclosure will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).

Probationary Period attached is 6 months to this post. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one weeks' notice.
