- Support Worker - Young People leaving care and UASC.

Advance Social Care

has created a new and exciting post for someone wanting to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of people who are aged 16 and over that are transitioning into adulthood and are unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC). We are a specialist service that provides semi supported/group living accommodation, floating support with accommodation to young people in the North West. Our goal is to nurture our young people to live as independently as possible.

Our mission is to offer a world class and one stop service to all young people leaving care, young people who are at risk of being homeless, and unaccompanied asylum seeking children. We thrive to provide excellent support to enable young people to make successful transition into adulthood and beyond.

We do and we are passionate about providing excellent care and support. As a support worker, you will have the opportunity to be part of many stories of inspiring and supporting our young people. You may get involved in exciting activities outside of the home too - our residents/service users participate in day trips, charity events and much more!

The role involves:



1. Supporting young people with their daily / living needs within their homes and within the community.

2. Supporting young people to become independent and competent adults

3. Creative implementation of our independent living programme with young people.

4. To work in partnership with multi agency services / staff to develop the skills and abilities of each young person,

5. Promote the rights and interests of all young people whilst ensuring they are safe and protected from harm. Ensuring the highest level of safeguarding whilst promoting independence and life skills.

6. To creatively identify and support young people with activities and / or voluntary options that may be beneficial and stimulating to their development and future

7. Help them fill in forms e.g. benefit forms, college and employment applications.

8. Provide emotional support to young people as and when required.

9. Manage presenting conflict and challenge from young people with positive outcomes.

10. Effectively run the daily duties and tasks within the semi supported/ group living home setting e.g. daily logs, chronology's, case files, updating support plans, risk assessments, cleaning and maintenance.

11. Attend the LAC reviews, pathway reviews, appointments and any other meetings with your young people if required. This could require transporting young people to these meetings.

12. Undertake accurate case recordings

13. Any other roles associated with the daily running of the organisation, its policies and procedures.

Our ideal Support Worker will:



Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation, work using their own initiative and be creative skills Provide advice, guidance and demonstration around budgeting, cooking, cleaning, washing, CV, interview skills, personal safety, managing accommodation, tenancy training etc for young people Be reliable, friendly and caring to help our young achieve their everyday goals. Always put the young people first and demonstrate high levels of safeguarding expertise. Be able to support in-house activities and hobbies.

Essential Requirements



Subject to Enhanced DBS Check.

Valid UK Driving Licence (Access to own vehicle with business insurance).

Relevant and or transferrable experience of working with individuals in need of care.

Desirable



Health and Social Care Level 3 or working towards.

Fluent in Arabic, Kurdish (Sorani) and or Pashto.

One year contract (view to long term)

Hours:

Full time work. Working 10 24 hour shifts (sleeping from 11 pm- 8 am) in a month.

Salary:

28,800 annually
