We offer a varied role where you will be collecting people from home in one of our buses, bringing them to our Centre and supporting them throughout the day to take part in a range of activities.
Some people travel in their wheelchair and you will need to operate a wheelchair lift and be able to clamp the wheelchair safely in the vehicle (training will be given). You will need to be confident driving larger vehicles and able to push people in their wheelchairs to and from the bus.

Key tasks
Collecting people from home across Derbyshire and bringing them to the Centre
Supporting people to take part in activities at the Stroke Centre
Providing 1-1 support at lunchtime
Supporting our service users with personal care
Keeping the bus clean and tidy, inside and out at all times
Prepare and serve drinks and refreshments
Working as part of the team to keep the Stroke Centre clean and tidy
Person specification
It is essential you understand our ethos of promoting independence and working in a person centred way to meet the needs of every service user as an individual
Must be outgoing and confident and be willing to work on a 1-1 basis with survivors or in our stroke groups with a larger number of people
A clear understanding of confidentiality is essential
Must be willing to work as part of a team to maintain our high standards of care ensuring our service users are always treated with dignity and respect.
Care experience is not essential as full training will be given. Must be willing to learn about specialist areas e.g. aphasia and swallowing issues after stroke
