Freedom Care group has over 20 years experience in providing childcare and children's support services. We work with local authorities families and business across several counties.

We are currently seeking a calm, reliable and emotionally attuned support worker to work one-to-one with a bright and creative young boy with a PDA profile, ASD, and ADHD. He enjoys being outdoors, loves animals, and thrives when supported by familiar, trusted adults who understand how to work with his needs - not against them.

The role is focused on helping him regulate his emotions, engage with the world at his own pace, and feel safe and understood. You'll support him both at home and in the community, through activities he enjoys - always following a low-demand, respectful and flexible approach.

About the Role:

This is a consistent, relationship-based support role working with a young person who has a PDA profile, ASD, ADHD, and associated sensory and emotional needs. The role is home and community-based, supporting regulation, independence and access to meaningful activities -- always at the young person's pace.

You will be supporting him with daily routines, attending appointments, and engaging in activities that are of interest to him, both at home and in the local community. The young person benefits from being given choice, having time to process, and being supported in a calm, low-demand environment. You'll play a key role in helping him feel safe, respected and understood.

This is a role for someone who can offer consistency, model calm and emotionally aware responses, and follow the child's lead without pressure or expectation. You'll need to be a confident driver, as transporting him to appointments is part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Build a safe and consistent relationship based on trust and low-pressure engagement Support him to regulate his emotions and responses, using calm, low-arousal strategies Plan and support activities that match his interests, energy levels and emotional needs Encourage self-confidence, communication and safe choices in community settings Understand and work with emotional dysregulation, sensory needs and demand avoidance behaviours Promote nutrition and hydration preferences (e.g. preferred snacks, food separation, frequent small meals) Work closely with family and other professionals involved in his care
Essential Requirements:

Level 3 Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) Experience working with children with ASD, PDA, ADHD and learning disabilities Skilled in low-arousal approaches and emotionally responsive care Knowledge of social communication differences, executive functioning challenges, and sensory processing Able to create a calm and consistent environment with minimal verbal demands Driver with access to your own vehicle Emotionally resilient and patient, with confidence managing behaviours that may challenge
Desirable:

Experience supporting children who have limited play range or delayed self-help skills Awareness of EHCPs, play therapy or education boxes Experience in creating a total communication environment (e.g. visual aids, simplified language) Confidence supporting in both home and community settings, avoiding crowded places when needed
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who truly understands the importance of connection, flexibility and emotional safety. If you can offer steady, respectful support and see the young person for who they are -- not just their needs -- we'd love to hear from you.

Travel allowance after 15 miles or 30 minutes Flexible working to fit around your lifestyle Ongoing training and CPD opportunities Friendly, supportive work environment Opportunity to be part of a growing, values-driven organisation
