Role Summary:
We are currently looking for a caring, reliable, and proactive Support Worker to join our team at The Shires. You will play a key role in supporting individuals with learning difficulties in their daily routines, personal development, health, and wellbeing.
Previous experience is welcomed but not essential. Full training is provided. Candidates with diabetes care training will be at an advantage, as we support individuals with complex health needs including diabetes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day care and support tailored to individual needs
Assist with personal care, medication, and mobility where needed
Support individuals in accessing community activities, education, and leisure
Encourage independent living skills and emotional wellbeing
Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans
Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and the wider team
Safeguard and promote the rights of individuals with learning difficulties
Support individuals with diabetes (if applicable) according to care plans and training
Essential Requirements:
Genuine interest in supporting people with learning difficulties
Good communication and interpersonal skills
A compassionate and person-centred approach
Ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Right to work in the UK
Willingness to complete mandatory training, including the Care Certificate if not already held
Desirable:
Experience working in a care or support setting
Diabetes care training or experience supporting individuals with diabetes
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
