To provide a quality, person centred service for young people and adults with learning disabilities and their families who are placed within the service.
To lead the service to improve quality of life for young people and adults with learning disabilities within residential, respite and voluntary settings ensuring that their living and learning experience reflects their individual needs and the aims and objectives of the service.
The team leader is responsible for the day-to-day operational, assessment, planning and delivery of support and care for young people and adults with learning disabilities, operating within a culture of continuous service improvement and safety to ensure professional standards and best practice are embedded throughout the team
The team leader will provide excellent leadership, direction and effective management of the team and its resources.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
SERVICE PROVISION
? To actively deliver care and support to all clients alongside team members, ensuring safe, effective and personalised support is given in line with assessments and care plans
? To promote the rights, interests, needs and choices of service users, carers and other interest groups in the planning and delivery of services.
? To be responsible for the day to day delivery of service to young people and adults with learning disabilities and their carers/families; to assess the quality and parity of decisions and to ensure consistent quality and targeting of the service to clients.
? Responsible for the clients stay including admission, activities and departure, that are competently planned and managed with the appropriate involvement from the parents/carers, placing authorities and the client themselves ensuring that all decisions are recorded in the care plan.
? Responsible for ensuring all client needs are captured correctly and effectively to ensure that all staff can provide individualised, quality care and support in line with individual needs and preferences.
? Responsible for ensuring that all medication is stored, administered, and recorded in line with Principle Care Agency Ltd.'s policies and procedures.
? Responsible for development of the activities programme, working in partnership with clients and their families/carers to ensure age appropriate and stimulating activities are planned and delivered in a safe and effective manner.
? Responsible for ensuring all documentation is kept up to date, contemporaneous and in line with service, local and national policies.
SERVICE MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
? To effectively lead the team day to day, ensuring provision of quality support for clients within the framework of a residential, therapeutic community, promoting resilience.
? Be a positive role model for all team members, being approachable and being visible regularly. Adopting a compassionate leadership approach maintaining consistency and transparency with all actions and decisions
? Ensure the team operates in accordance with policies and procedures of Principle Care Agency Ltd, and that the team members comply with professional standards, policy and practice and the relevant statutory frameworks.
? To attend, participate and lead (occasionally) regular Care Worker team meetings and any other relevant meetings
? Support the drive for excellence in client care through identifying and reporting any complaints and service issues that may arise.
? To ensure that the delivery of service continually promotes the equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities of staff and clients at all times in accordance with statutory requirements and Principle Care Agency Ltd policies. Ensuring there is no discrimination on grounds of race, gender, disability, or cultural preference.
? Responsible for working with the service manager to implement any changes to working practices and any corrective action measures that are required to improve performance.
? To be included in an on-call rota, with no more than 1 weekend per month on call. Ensuring they are available and the first point of contact for staff members working that weekend. Ensuring that staff members have support as and when needed, sourcing cover for any sickness/absences, and providing cover if needed.
? Ensure robust team development through regular 1:1s and Supervision to foster a continual improvement to service delivery and supporting the growth and development of all staff
Quality and Governance
? Responsible for ensuring the reporting of all incidents within the service, supporting investigations as indicated by the service manager and implementing corrective actions as identified to prevent reoccurrence.
? Support with investigations of complaints received, where required, in conjunction with the service manager. To ensure learning is identified, and lessons applied within service provision.
? Responsible for the ongoing review of service delivery through an annual audit programme, in conjunction with the service manager. Identifying areas for development and providing a clear action plan of improvement.
? Support the service manager to ensure regular feedback mechanisms to team members to ensure all lessons learnt are fully understood, and improvements to future practice are implemented
? Responsible for ensuring the reporting of all required areas of the service in planned meetings with service manager to inform governance meetings. This could include but not limited to incidents, absences, team members working practices, concerns, praise, health and safety.
? To plan and prepare for admin time in order to complete auditing and reporting paperwork.
Personal Responsibilities
? To dress appropriately, wearing uniform where necessary and using personal protective equipment provided by Principle Care Agency.
? Responsible for maintaining a high level of knowledge in social care, developing own competency to practice, through professional development and CPD activities and maintaining a portfolio which reflects personal development.
? Participate in the organisation's appraisal system both as an appraisee and appraiser for less experienced staff, including the agreement of a Personal Development Plan.
? Keep up to date on current social care legislation, policies, professional practice issues and developments.
? Awareness and adherence to Health & Safety aspects of the work and implement any policies, which may be required to improve the safety of the work area, including prompt recording and reporting of accidents or concerns.
? Provide support and supervision to less experienced staff or students within the service.
? Undertake other duties requested by Senior Management, which are within the scope of the post.
? Flexible approach to working across weekdays, evening, and weekends.

? You may be asked within reason to work in other aspects of the organisation according to organisational need and to ensure quality service delivery.

All staff will actively participate in an annual Appraisal process. All staff should have a personal/professional development plan and in conjunction with their manager, should actively determine and pursue agreed training and development needs and opportunities.
Safeguarding
Principle Care Agency Ltd are committed to safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults. All employees have responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults, children, and young people. This applies to employees with both direct and indirect contact with children and families.
All employees must undertake training in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults but will have different training needs to fulfil their responsibilities depending on their degree of contact with vulnerable groups and their level of responsibility.

Employees will have access to confidential information and will be required to ensure that the highest level of confidentiality is maintained at all times, adhering to all policies relating to confidentiality. Employees are required to obtain process and/or use person identifiable information in a fair and lawful way. Health and Safety
All staff are required to comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and other relevant health and safety legislation and local policies and procedures. All staff are required to make positive efforts to promote their own personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care at work, by carrying out requirements of the law or following recognised codes of practice and co-operating with safety measures provided or advised by Principle Care Agency Ltd to ensure safe working.
Managers are responsible for implementing and monitoring any identified risk management control measures within their designated area/s and scope of responsibility. In situations where significant risks have been identified and where local control measures are considered to be potentially inadequate, managers are responsible for bringing these risks to the attention of the appropriate Committee if resolution has not been satisfactorily achieved.
All staff must ensure that waste produced within Principle Care Agency Ltd services, is disposed of in such ways that control risk to health, or safety of staff and the public alike in accordance with relevant legislation and procedures contained within the policy.
Infection Control
All staff are required to follow Principle Care Agency Ltd.'s infection control policies and comply with all measures known to be effective in reducing infection risk. All staff must complete infection control training at induction, and all staff whose duties involve patient contact must also complete infection control refresher training annually.
