About Us

Step Together is a compassionate and dynamic community-based service supporting neurodivergent adults (16+) in developing life skills, friendships and independence through meaningful activities across Slough and nearby areas. We are currently looking for full-time self-employed support workers to join our growing team and provide day to day support for our participants in public settings.

Duties:

As a Support Worker, you will:

Collect and drop off participants in your own vehicle (mileage not reimbursed) Support neurodivergent individuals during structured group activities such as swimming, travel training, bowling, safe social outings and college support Provide encouragement, promote independence and build confidence Engage participants meaningfully and respectfully throughout the day Take 6-10 photos and 4 short videos each shift (shared securely, not stored) Communicate clearly with families regarding plans, times and requirements
Shift Times

Day shift: 8:00am - 4:00pm Evening shift: 5:00pm - 11:00pm (optional) Saturday shift: 9:00am - 3:00pm / 10:00am - 4:00pm (optional)
Pay Rates

Probation (3 months): 16.00 1:1 support: 17.50 Group rates: 1 participant - 16.00 2 participants - 18.00 3 participants - 22.00 4 participants - 25.00
Pay is based on participant pickup/drop-off time. Travel to/from your own home is not included.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

Over 18 and eligible to work in the UK Car owner with business-use insurance, valid MOT, road tax and breakdown cover Full UK driving licence (held for 3+ years preferred) Enhanced DBS check (or willing to complete one) Strong communication and safeguarding awareness Able to commit to declared shifts with reliability and flexibility
Desirable:

Experience working with autistic or neurodivergent adults Previous care or youth work experience First Aid certification (or willingness to complete training)
What You will Need

Enhanced DBS (We will apply for you and pay for this) Public liability insurance Willingness to read and follow the Adult Safeguarding Policy Professional, compassionate attitude with an ability to engage participants calmly and positively
