Residential Support Worker
to join our team in Reading, working within a solo residential placement. This is a unique opportunity to provide one-to-one, trauma-informed care--where your presence, compassion, and professionalism will have a lasting impact.
About the Role
In this role, you'll be part of a small, focused team creating a stable, structured home environment for a young person in care. Your support will help them develop emotional resilience, essential life skills, and a sense of safety and trust.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care tailored to the young person's individual needs
Support emotional regulation, therapeutic engagement, and mental wellbeing
Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation and intervention strategies when needed
Assist with personal care, daily routines, and life skill development
Contribute to care planning, progress tracking, and key working sessions
Maintain consistency, structure, and a safe environment at all times
Work collaboratively with colleagues, external professionals, and the wider care team
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with the right experience--and the right mindset. You understand the value of consistency, patience, and emotionally attuned care in helping young people recover from trauma and begin to rebuild.
You'll bring:
Experience in residential childcare, therapeutic support, or mental health settings
Confidence in managing complex or high-risk behaviours
A calm, grounded, and empathetic approach to care
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
A commitment to child-centred care and a genuine desire to make a difference
Willingness to engage in ongoing training, development, and reflective practice

13.00 - 13.50 per hour (no sleep-ins required)
