Are you an experienced support worker with a background in therapeutic care, residential childcare, or mental health? Do you have the resilience, empathy, and dedication to make a real difference for a young person facing emotional and behavioural challenges?

Cornerstone Children's Homes is looking for a passionate Residential Support Worker to join our team in Reading. You'll be at the heart of a solo residential placement, delivering one-to-one, trauma-informed care where your presence and professionalism truly change lives.

About the Role

Join a focused, caring team dedicated to creating a safe, stable, and structured home environment. You'll play a vital role in helping a young person develop emotional strength, essential life skills, and a deep sense of trust and security.

Your responsibilities include:



Providing high-quality, trauma-informed care tailored to individual needs Supporting emotional regulation, therapeutic engagement, and mental wellbeing Calmly and effectively managing challenging behaviours using de-escalation and intervention techniques Assisting with personal care, daily routines, and life skill development Contributing to care planning, progress tracking, and key working sessions Ensuring consistency, structure, and safety at all times Collaborating closely with colleagues, external professionals, and the wider care network
Who You Are

You bring:



Experience in residential childcare, therapeutic support, or mental health Confidence handling complex or high-risk behaviours A calm, grounded, and compassionate approach Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills A genuine commitment to child-centred care and making a difference Openness to ongoing training, development, and reflective practice
