male/female support worker

to provide practical and emotional support to

clients

across

Stroud.



About the Role:



As a Support Worker, you will assist male clients--many of whom are living with mental health difficulties, substance misuse issues, hoarding, self-neglect and childhood trauma to maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. These adults are pleasant individuals who are at risk of mate crime, financial abuse, self-neglect and other forms of exploitation, therefore, a robust understanding of adult safeguarding is required to meet their needs. Your support will range from day-to-day tasks at home to accompanying clients to appointments, volunteering, shopping, and other community activities.

Key Responsibilities:



Drive clients to and from essential appointments (e.g., GP, hospital, Job Centre, housing services). Assist clients with budgeting, reading mail, and completing official forms. Support with homelessness applications and signposting to appropriate services. Work closely within a multi-disciplinary team including family members, social workers, occupational therapists, mental health teams, and more. Promote independence in household tasks such as laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean home. Encourage and support good personal hygiene and routines. Help build social confidence and life skills in the community.

Essential Requirements:



Full UK

driving licence

with

clean driving record

. Access to a car with

business insurance

. Good communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building trust with clients. Basic IT literacy for recording notes and communicating with teams. Good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and individual rights. Substance abuse training Mental Health training

Desirable Experience (training will be provided):



Supporting individuals with enduring mental health conditions and substance misuse. Working with vulnerable adults or those at risk of homelessness. Supporting clients with accessing benefits, services, and advocacy.
