Role Overview
As a
Support Worker
, you will play a vital role in helping adults with learning disabilities, Autism, and mental health conditions live as independently as possible.
You will provide
tailored support
that promotes independence, encourages community involvement, and builds essential life skills -- all while fostering a safe, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support individuals with
daily living tasks
, including meal planning, cooking, personal care, cleaning, and managing appointments.
Encourage and support people to develop
independent living skills
and confidence in their abilities.
Promote social inclusion by helping individuals engage in
community and leisure activities
.
Administer medication safely and ensure a clean, secure home environment.
Maintain accurate records such as
daily logs, medication charts
, and health & safety checks.
Work collaboratively with
families, advocates, health professionals
, and other team members.
Follow and implement
Positive Behaviour Support
strategies where needed, responding calmly to behaviours of concern.
Requirements
Clean Full UK Driving Licence
(essential - you must be able to drive service users' mobility vehicles).
Experience in
supported living or similar care settings
is preferred but not essential.
Commitment to
safeguarding, dignity, and high-quality support
.
Compassionate, resilient, and flexible, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
Understanding of (or willingness to learn)
Positive Behaviour Support
and person-centred approaches.
Additional Information
An
enhanced DBS (criminal records) check
is required - Tameside Link will cover the cost*. You must have the
right to work in the UK
.
Roles may include
sleep-ins or weekend work
, depending on the needs of the individuals you support.
Ongoing
