We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. This role involves supporting clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their independence. The Support Worker will work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver personalised care tailored to the needs of each individual.
Responsibilities
Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
Aid in meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
Support clients with mobility and physical activities, including heavy lifting when necessary.
Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with specific needs such as dementia or Alzheimer's care.
Maintain accurate records of client progress and communicate effectively with family members and healthcare professionals.
Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required.
Ensure a clean and safe environment for clients by following health and safety protocols.
Requirements
Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or similar environments is preferred.
Knowledge of senior care practices, including hospice and dementia care.
Certification in first aid is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
A valid driving licence is essential for transporting clients when necessary.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the needs of the client.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends if needed.
A caring attitude towards individuals requiring support, demonstrating patience and empathy at all times. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others through dedicated support and care.
