The role
To conduct and manage relevant activities, providing advice and alternative solutions for service delivery within areas of experience, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements within defined Marine KPI's.
To ensure all deliverables produced by the office meet internal and external requirements; to budget, time and quality, taking the responsibility to review and monitor work activity.
To discuss and present the deliverable with internal / external clients up to senior level and be able to suggest solutions where necessary.
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
To assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client agreeing the most appropriate fee and cost structure up to authorisation level.
To mentor / coach employees, as appropriate, to ensure effective knowledge transfer and application.
To make recommendations based on internal / external client feedback to assist in internal and external process improvement, service delivery and to help build the business working alongside the local Business Development team.
To ensure that time booked is either within the permissible range or fully understand the reasons why additional / reduced time was taken and where appropriate indicate where an increased fee should be charged.
Ensuring own and colleagues' authorisations are up to date and refresher learning and development is reviewed and planned accordingly through the performance review process.
Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
To support in surveyor recruitment for your area of responsibility, participating in appropriate technical interviews.
Lead surveys on specific high risk activities within their discipline and experience / knowledge.
To lead, manage and develop a team of Lead, Senior Surveyors and Surveyors to maintain an effective and competitive service. This includes recruitment, performance management, training / development and work allocation.
Maintaining and further developing the competencies of their employees through learning and development planning
Responsible for ensuring that Activity Monitoring is carried out and reported in accordance with management system requirements.
You are someone who:
A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd's Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship's officer.
Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work.
