Sushi Commis Chef
to join our flagship Soho restaurant in the heart of London.
About the Role
As a Sushi Commis Chef, you'll support the sushi section by preparing high-quality ingredients, assisting senior chefs, and learning the art of Nikkei cuisine. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about Japanese cuisine and eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced, high-end environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of sushi ingredients (fish, vegetables, rice, sauces) to Chotto Matte standards
Support senior sushi chefs with plating and service during busy operations
Ensure food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures are followed at all times
Work as part of the wider kitchen brigade to deliver smooth service
Take on feedback and training to continually develop skills and techniques
Show enthusiasm for learning Japanese ingredients, sushi rice preparation, and knife skills
Requirements
Previous experience in sushi or Japanese cuisine
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn from senior chefs
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Team-oriented, reliable, and motivated to develop a career in hospitality
