Deloitte's Sustainable and Resilient Supply Chain capability sits across its Risk Advisory practice and helps clients build and implement sustainable and resilient supply chain strategies that drive business value and reduce risk. Our team of experts works with clients to identify and mitigate sustainability risks, improve supply chain transparency, and drive innovation across the value chain. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supply Chain Sustainability Expert to join our team and help our clients achieve their sustainability goals, in particular to help them engage with their suppliers and business partners to collaborate and drive impact across the value chain.


The successful candidate will be responsible for advising our clients on developing and implementing comprehensive supply chain sustainability programs, ensuring that key suppliers meet their sustainability standards and supporting the delivery of compliance requirements across environmental subjects such as decarbonisation, product passporting, environmental and social due diligence and traceability.


General: Extended Enterprise


In Extended Enterprise we perform a huge variety of projects helping our clients with their third party relationships. This ranges from advising our clients on how to risk assess, manage and monitor populations of sometimes over 100,000 third parties, helping perform due diligence on individual third parties as well as entire supply chains, and supporting to build sustainability and resilience in to their supply chain operations. We help clients across a wide range of regulatory, reputational, operational and ethical risks.


Responsibilities


The successful applicant's core responsibilities will include:

Advising clients on developing and implementing comprehensive supply chain sustainability programs, particularly with a focus on supplier engagement to decarbonise, transformation for the achievement of circular economy across the value chain, and to help suppliers build capacity, knowledge and skills for lasting impact and to meet regulatory requirements such as for Digital Product Passports and Supply Chain Due Diligence. Working closely with clients to help them support suppliers to meet their sustainability standards and compliance requirements across key ESG subject areas. Developing and maintain strong relationships with clients and support them to build positive partnerships around the subject with their suppliers, ensuring that they understand the client's requirements and expectations. Supporting to clients in the development and implementation of the circular strategy in order to reduce the environmental impact throughout all stages of the product development cycle. Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices relating to circular economy action planning across the value chain, how clients are achieving success with supplier engagement activities to achieve decarbonisation, and regulatory developments across the subject matter. Developing the technical knowledge and capability of our junior team members working across sustainable supply chain transformation programmes.

Preferred Requirements:

Significant experience in sustainable supply chain or related fields, preferably in a consulting environment or within a sustainability function in a business with a physical supply chain (e.g. Consumer Goods, Industrial Products or Pharmaceuticals) or a government department. Strong understanding of circular economy principles, use cases and experience in developing and implementing circular economy strategies. Experience working with suppliers to create positive sustainability impact and demonstrate the benefits of the impact achieved is a core requirement. Experience in capturing data and engaging with suppliers on the subjects of decarbonisation, traceability, transforming supply chains for regulatory compliance, circularity, or decarbonisation. Experience in working with suppliers in emerging markets or complex supply chains. Strong understanding of sustainability risks and threats, including regulations, as well as sustainability management principles and practices. Experience in conducting sustainability risk assessments and audits, as well as developing and implementing sustainability management strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and their suppliers. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess risks and develop effective sustainability management strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

A Batchelors or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Supply Chain Management or related field is preferred but not critical. Relevant certifications such as CSCP, or SCPro are helpful.

Requirements

It is also essential to have good communication skills, as well as a confident and professional demeanour when dealing with clients and colleagues.


Applicants need the ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to dealing with situations where confidentiality is important or where our work is of a sensitive nature. Helping maintain our client's good relationships is integral to our business.


Successful applicants will have the ability to learn fast and deliver quality work under pressure. They will produce key client work upon joining the firm. Candidates should have an agile and analytical mind and enjoy problem solving. Therefore applicants must be highly organised, with the ability to review their own work critically. Independently finding creative solutions to client problems is a critical skill to succeeding in this role.


The candidate will also have experience of being able to provide advice on sustainable supply chain best practices, including related to procurement category management planning, supply chain risk assessment, supplier engagement, contracting and on-going supplier risk management.


Applicants need to be able to create clear and well articulated documentation using the MS Office suite such as Powerpoint and Excel. The ability to concisely present an idea or position will be crucial.
