We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Safety Engineer to oversee and drive functional safety for high-voltage (HV) systems in Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). This role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining safety standards throughout the design, validation, and production lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and ISO 26262.
Key Responsibilities:
Review product systems, related equipment, facilities, and functional specifications to define and implement safety requirements.
Conduct independent safety analyses and recommend design, equipment, and procedural modifications to mitigate or eliminate hazards.
Develop safety documentation in alignment with customer, test range, and operational requirements.
Perform audits of operational areas to evaluate the effectiveness of the safety program and identify areas for improvement.
Support incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and development of corrective actions.
Assess the interaction of system safety requirements with broader system design to ensure cost-effective and compliant implementation.
Required Skills and Experience:
In-depth knowledge of HV system architecture for BEVs and PHEVs.
Expertise in ISO 26262 and the full Functional Safety lifecycle.
Proven experience conducting Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessment, ASIL determinations, and safety validation.
Familiarity with Design Validation (DV) and Production Validation (PV) processes.
Hands-on experience with safety verification testing, including fault injection methods.
Ability to lead cross-functional safety analysis efforts involving multiple engineering disciplines.
Strong technical writing and documentation skills, including generation of safety reports and compliance documents.
Education and Certifications:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Additional certification in Functional Safety (ISO 26262).
Experience in conducting ASIL assessments and FMEA/FTA (Failure Modes and Effects/Tree Analysis).
Solid understanding of High Voltage components including batteries, inverters, on-board chargers, power distribution units, and DC-DC converters.
