This role is for a contract Systems Engineer to work as part of the Design Services Contract (DSC) Software Build team to develop and maintain complex Windows-based tactical C4i communication systems.

The role will include supporting and leading tasks at different stages in the engineering lifecycle to deliver solutions that meet customer needs to a defined quality standard within agreed timescales and budgets.

Tasks include:

• Deliver assigned tasks to produce or upgrade bespoke Windows based Operating Systems terminal builds for tactical C4I systems:

• Analysing and defining task requirements
• System & Software development
• Problem investigation and resolution
• Input to internal and external meetings
• Analysing and debugging software integration issues on target hardware and software environments.
• Undertaking and supporting product and integration test activities.
• Provide support and guidance to:

• Programme Manager
• Task Lead Engineer
• Software Dev & Testing
• System Integration
• Specialist Engineering Areas (inc. Safety, Security, ILS)

Qualifications

• Good understanding and experience of Windows based OS systems, supporting and developing Tactical C4I Systems; knowledge of the BCIP system is desirable.
• Microsoft Windows Platform development experience including a good understanding of Windows Operating System architecture (including 64-bit), development frameworks, services, and security features.
• Ability to generate well-written, precise instructions for the installation of applications.
• Good Powershell scripting skills.
• High attention to detail, with strong configuration control.
• Ability to present at progress reviews and contribute productively in the team and with other stakeholders.
• Capable of analysing and debugging software integration issues on target hardware and software environments.
• Multi-faceted engineer. Build production skills plus other relevant experience (e.g. Software Test, Test Automation, Systems Integration).
• Experience with HPQC/ALM desirable

General Dynamics Mission Systems utilises QDOS IR35 Status Review. The requirements of this contract have been evaluated as Outside IR35 - Prior to the engagement start you will need to complete a status questionnaire in order to receive the finalised status determination.
