An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Optimisation Department for an experienced Systems Specialisy. Our successful candidate will act as our Terminal Systems Specialist, to be able to document requirements/modifications of new offerings and improvements, conduct technical testing and provide Support in the development of IT systems or offerings. You will recommend and drive solutions to maximise operational performance, considering integrations across Terminal systems.

We are looking for an experienced System/Optimisation professional with at least 3 years practical experience working in the container terminal environment. Writing detailed requirement and functional specifications for complex business applications. You\'ll be an excellent communicator and natural problem solver to understand in detail the operational characteristics of the UK ports.

Location: Stanford le Hope, Essex

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri)

Contract: Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with all departments, translating business requirements into systems solutions
  • Build and maintain new business processes, covering all scenarios including exceptions
  • Build shared processes across UK business units, sharing and supporting best practise
  • Ensure extensive system testing prior to production; provide support at time of deployments
  • Be approachable as field expert for all systems users within operations
  • Proactively engage with the user community, responding to problems, queries and suggestions leading to continuous improvement
  • Provide input into strategy development and standards, supported by practical solutions
  • Identify improvement opportunities and propose those to others
  • Co-ordinate resolution of Terminal System Issues, providing support and improvements suggestions
  • Carry out other tasks that are appropriate to your role in addition to these responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in process improvement activities, including Lean
  • Provide support for training in new processes etc, providing support during training phases as appropriate
About you:

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum \'A\' level education.
  • Tertiary educational qualification preferable
  • Computer science degree or other relevant degree within the IT function - BA/BS
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 3 years practical experience working in the container terminal environment. Writing detailed requirement and functional specifications for complex business applications.

Additional Information

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • A full valid UK driving license or appropriate international license allowing you to drive on UK roads
