Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor/seamstress to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for garment construction and alteration, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. As a Tailor/seamstress, you will be responsible for altering, and repairing garments to meet client specifications, ensuring that each piece fits perfectly and meets the highest standards of quality.

Duties

Perform clothing alterations and repairs

including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, shortening/lengthening garments, replacing zippers, and adjusting waistlines, sleeves, shorten from shoulder and hemlines.

Assess garments during fittings

and provide expert recommendations on possible alterations based on garment construction and client needs.

Take accurate measurements

and ensure garments fit customers properly, meeting both comfort and style expectations.

Work with a variety of fabrics

including delicate, heavy, or stretchy materials, applying appropriate techniques for each.

Collaborate with tailors, seamstresses, or sales staff

to understand customer requests and special requirements.

Maintain cleanliness and organisation

of the work area and ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition.

Keep accurate records

of alterations performed, customer preferences, and deadlines.

Meet deadlines and maintain a high standard of quality

, ensuring customer satisfaction with completed work.

Provide excellent customer service

, including answering questions, offering suggestions, and addressing concerns promptly.

Skills

Proficient in sewing techniques, including hand sewing and machine operation. Suit alterations. Wedding dress alterations. Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality work consistently. Excellent measuring skills to ensure accurate fittings for clients. Good communication skills for effective interaction with clients regarding their requirements. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of various fabrics and garment construction methods is advantageous.
