Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Tandoor Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of traditional Indian tandoor cooking methods, ingredients, and presentation. The Tandoor Chef will be responsible for preparing a variety of authentic tandoori dishes, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and ensuring consistent quality in food preparation and presentation.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of tandoori dishes including breads (naan, roti), kebabs, and tandoori meats using a traditional clay tandoor oven.
Ensure food preparation and presentation meet quality and consistency standards.
Manage mise en place efficiently and ensure timely service during busy periods.
Monitor stock levels of tandoor ingredients and assist in inventory management.
Follow proper sanitation practices to maintain cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.
Collaborate with other chefs and kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in tandoor techniques as needed.
Innovate and contribute ideas for new menu items or improving existing recipes.
Inspect and maintain tandoor equipment to ensure optimal operation.
Requirements
Proven Experience
: Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience as a Tandoor Chef in a professional kitchen or Indian restaurant.
Culinary Knowledge
: Strong understanding of traditional tandoor cooking methods, marination techniques, and spice blends.
Skill in Tandoor Operations
: Proficient in operating, maintaining, and cleaning a traditional clay tandoor oven.
Food Safety & Hygiene
: Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and best kitchen hygiene practices.
Time Management
: Ability to handle high-volume service efficiently without compromising quality.
Physical Stamina
: Ability to work long hours in a hot kitchen environment and handle physical tasks related to tandoor cooking.
Team Collaboration
: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a culinary team.
Creativity & Innovation
: Willingness to innovate and contribute ideas for new tandoori dishes or presentation styles.
