The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK\'s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Tax Manager to join SZC, as the subject matter expert for the accounting and tax consequences of the project throughout construction, acting as a crucial link between shareholders, HMRC and SZC.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly and we provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively, so long as you\'re able to travel to the office to collaborate with your team and stakeholders when required.
The Role

Sitting within the wider Financial Control team, your principal role as Tax Manager will be to ensure robust and reliable tax reporting and compliance whilst managing tax risk. You\'ll ensure that SZC complies with all tax legislation, meets all tax reporting requirements (both externally and internally), ensures that tax affairs are conducted in an efficient manner, and controls applied are robust and meet the expectations of HMRC.

You\'ll work collaboratively with the other Finance teams under the CFO but also with the wider Project.

You\'ll be empowered to ensure accurate and robust reporting and to gain a detailed understanding of the tax attributes of the project to optimise tax efficiency, supporting the SZC Leadership team to optimise financial performance and return on investment for stakeholders.
The Skills

You\'ll need to demonstrate significant knowledge of tax legislation, case law and HMRC guidance - this knowledge is required to be applied appropriately across the business to mitigate tax risks and ensure tax compliance.

Additionally, you\'ll have a broad technical background across multiple taxes, as well as familiarity with accounting concepts and be comfortable with applying tax accounting principles to the project.

The ability to liaise with a range of people across the company at an appropriate level and ultimately to work with a minimum of supervision, managing your own projects, workloads and priorities, will be key. You\'ll need to be comfortable giving advice at the most appropriate level of depth for the audience and to undertake regular briefings to the CFO and Executive Team on key projects and risks.

If the above sounds like you, then we\'d love to hear from you!
