Our Tax Consulting practice provides companies and high net worth individuals with tax advisory, compliance services and transaction advice. From advising clients on investment tax to working with their innovation and property teams to ensure that the available tax reliefs are maximised, we help our clients make the right business decisions, on a worldwide scale.
A role within our Tax Consulting practice, could mean the opportunity to work within one of the following teams:
Digital Innovation - Digital Tax Solutions: We discover, design and deliver market-leading innovation in the form of user-centric products, services and experiences. We create, enhance and manage cutting edge digital tax assets (both products and solutions), designed and delivered in an agile environment to transform our business and drive revenue growth.
Global Investments & Innovation Incentives (Gi3): The UK government offers generous tax incentives to companies operating across all areas of science, engineering and tech, to encourage investment in research and development. The Gi3 team is part of a global network of tech, engineering, science and financial specialists who work closely with companies of varying size (from start-ups to large multinationals), helping them unlock these incentives for their innovations in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, manufacturing etc. This involves working closely with our clients to identify their eligible projects (and attributable expenditure), maximising the valuable incentives available.
Our team comprises specialists from both tax/financial and tech backgrounds, where engineers, scientists and IT/software technologists play a pivotal role in supporting our clients in unlocking the incentives available to them. We partner with clients working on some of the most exciting and innovative projects across all areas of science and technology.
What skills and academic qualifications do I need?
You must be in the penultimate year of your course, or going onto a Masters, and you need to be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in any discipline.
Digital Innovation - Digital Tax Solutions
We require you to demonstrate an interest in, or a degree related to, developing products, Computer Science or Software Engineering.

Global Investment & Innovation Incentives - Software Engineering:
We require you to hold, or be working towards, a degree within a Computer Science, Software
Development/Software Engineering or related discipline.

We require you to have achieved, or be working towards, a degree in an Engineering or Science related degree discipline.
What kind of work will I do?
By joining a student programme within Tax Technology & Engineering, you will work with and learn from some of the most talented and experienced professionals in the industry.
You'll have the opportunity to work with a range of clients, from FTSE 100 organisations to start-ups and private individuals.
You'll help them solve some of the most complex issues their business is ever likely to face. Many of our established clients are high profile, household names. You will play a key role in a multi-disciplinary collaborative team and will learn about the UK's latest tech developments.
Depending on the area you join, you may be using your technical background to understand and support a client's development activities or form the basis for their R&D, patent box claims and grant applications. Alternatively, by using and leveraging cloud services and cutting-edge technology (then applying it to the tax technology domain) you will support the build of software platforms to provide better business insight and efficiencies.
Where will I work?
At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you're in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

How will I develop?
We will ensure that your work is fully supported by the right level of training and development, underpinned by in-role experience of working with clients and colleagues.
You will be allocated a buddy who will provide support as you move into your new role, as well as a coach who will help with career guidance and development.
Your Graduate training and development will include locally-delivered, practical training sessions, providing you with excellent opportunities to learn, build your network and advance your career.
If you join Digital Tax Solutions, you will also complete an internal learning programme designed to prepare you for promotion to Junior Software Engineer.
Within Gi3 you will be given the opportunity to join training sessions alongside staff from our global network.
Depending on the business area you join, you may also be given the opportunity to study towards one or more of the following qualifications;
The Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) qualification.
CIMA Qualification.
AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
CIOT Diploma
