Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Trainee to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills in an independent Chartered Accountancy practice and gain hands-on experience in tax compliance, tax advisory and accounting.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced tax professionals and accountants, providing support in various aspects of tax compliance and tax planning.

Upon successful completion of probation period (3 months), you will be considered for advancing your studies with the Association of Taxation Technicians and the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations. Utilise accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero to obtain relevant information for tax preparation. Support the accounts team in advising businesses on tax-efficient profit extraction. Collaborate with team members on various projects. Liaising with the tax authorities, HMRC, regarding taxpayer affairs. Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and accounting practices to enhance knowledge and service delivery.

Experience

A background or interest in accounting or financial services is preferred. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively. Proficient in the use of MS Excel and MS Word. Previous experience in an accountancy practice is a plus but not essential. A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development within the professional services sector.
