Are you passionate about empowering young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We're seeking a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our specialist school--a place where every day presents an opportunity to create lasting change.
Your Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting students academically and emotionally. Many of our learners face challenges with engagement, behaviour, and emotional regulation, and your guidance will help them build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills to navigate their world.
What You'll Do:
- Provide individual and group support, ensuring students remain motivated and engaged.
- Assist in developing individual education plans (IEPs) and implementing behaviour support strategies.
- Create a safe, nurturing environment where students feel heard, valued, and empowered.
- Support emotional regulation through de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and professionals to drive student success.
- Foster positive social interactions during break times, encouraging connection and inclusion.
Who We're Looking For:
- Compassionate, patient, and understanding of SEMH challenges.
- A confident communicator and team player who excels in a collaborative environment.
- Proactive and adaptable, ready to tailor support to individual student needs.
- Experience working with children with SEMH or special educational needs (a bonus but not essential).
Your Skills & Qualifications:
- GCSEs in English & Maths (or equivalent).
- Experience in a school or care setting (preferred but not required).
- Training in de-escalation techniques, therapeutic approaches, or Makaton (a plus, but not essential).
