TEACHING ASSISTANT - Part Time Role



(22 to 32 hours) - Fixed Term Contract of One Year (initially)



We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and (ideally) experienced Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team from 1st September 2025. Applicants must be committed to working as part of a team and be able to work with children of all abilities. The successful applicant will be predominantly based in KS2 but should be willing to work across both Key Stages.

The number of hours per week is open to negotiation (depending on the needs of the candidate and school) and could extend to a full time role of 32 hours. The minimum hours we require are 22.

If the successful candidate was able to begin before 1st September, that would be possible.

St Peter's is a friendly, well-resourced supportive village school that is located in a delightful rural setting easily accessible from either the A23 or A24. The school had a very successful Ofsted Inspection in December 2021 and retained its good grading.



Preference will be given applicants who have:

experience as a Teaching Assistant

(applicants without TA experience are still encouraged to apply)

Key Tasks

1. To work with individual or groups of children as directed by the class teachers or other senior members of staff, to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development.

2. To assist with the supervision of the pupils on their arrival/departure and during school times.

3. To help children with personal care, if needed.

4. To help teachers create displays, mount work and prepare exercise books (labels & covers).

5. To prepare equipment and materials (eg mix paint, cut paper) and check and store after session.

6. To supervise pupils at break-times or lunchtimes as per the 'Duties Rota'.

7. To keep records of activities and children's achievements as directed, including the monitoring of behaviour. Use CPOMS for the latter.

8. To take part in planning sessions with the class teacher, during the T.A.'s working hours.

9. To accompany children off school premises as directed by the class teachers, but in the presence of a teacher.

10. To support specific SEN pupils with their special educational needs, as per the targets on their Individual Learning Plans (I.L.P.s), running interventions as directed by teachers and SENCO.

11. To actively promote safeguarding of children. Be vigilant for signs of abuse and effectively record concerns (or disclosures) on CPOMS.

12. To attend relevant meetings as required, to participate in training, other learning activities and performance management.

13. Any other duties which reasonably fall within the purview of the post, which may be allocated by the Headteacher after consultation with the post holder.
