This role is based at our National Construction College- Scotland, located at Inchinnan. This role is not suitable for home working.

The working hours for this role are 35 hours across 5 days Mon-Fri.


CITB National Construction College is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at our campus in Inchinnan, Scotland. This is a fantastic opportunity to support our apprentice learners with a range of additional support for learning needs.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:



Reinforcing lessons delivered by the lecturer/instructor by reviewing materials with learners individually or in groups and providing additional learning support for learners where required. Assisting with the development and planning of lessons and learning materials to meet curriculum requirements and individual learner needs. Using the results of initial and diagnostic assessments and considering prior learning, provide individualised learning and support to ensure all learners needs are met. Provide high quality and regular verbal and written feedback to learners to ensure they know what they need to do to improve. Monitor and formally recording the progress learners are making on the recognised IT platforms. Develop learners personal, English, maths and digital skills to support them to succeed in society and the world of work. Provide information regarding individual learners, to inform progress reviews and the learning support process. Work closely with the Apprenticeship Development Coaches/Apprenticeship Officers and participate in the learner periodic review process, to ensue learners and employers are fully up to date with the progress being made. Provide learners with information advice and guidance relating to career progression opportunities. Deliver aspects of the induction programme to learners and provide class cover when necessary. Follow all safeguarding policies and practices and be responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment where all learners feel safe, included and supported. Ensure that all learners work safely and always follow all health and safety rules and regulations. Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to keep up to date with changing teaching, learning and assessment methodologies. Always display positive behaviours and attitudes to colleagues and learners.

Knowledge and Experience:



Essential:



Experience of supporting learners with additional needs in an education setting. Post holders will have good level of education, minimum of grade 4 GCSE (or equivalent) in maths and English Educated to level 3 or above. Excellent IT skills including Office 365 Word and Excel. Prepared to work towards and achieve relevant teaching qualification to at least level 3 (achieved within 9 months). Confidence to advise and challenge on all aspects relating to additional learning support. Ability to motivate, enthuse and develop positive attitudes in learners and supporting them to overcome barriers to learning and progression. Prepared to work toward and achieve relevant qualifications that support the curriculum area. Well organised and efficient with the ability to manage own workload. Strong team player with the ability to support others. Excellent organisational skills.

Teaching qualification level 5 Assessor Awards Degree level education Experience of apprenticeship delivery Knowledge of learning support relating funding requirements Coaching and/or mentoring qualification

Able to work non-standard hours as required Able to travel and make occasional overnight stops Full Driving License Enhanced DBS/PVG check
