Job Description

Fast Forward Vocational Training Ltd is launching an innovative independent school in Hull focused on vocational studies including Hair and Beauty, Mechanics and Construction. We're looking for passionate, adaptable, and committed Teaching Assistants and HLTAs to work closely with our learners who present with a variety of academic abilities, behavioural needs, and learning differences, including SEMH and SLCN.

You'll work alongside a team of vocational instructors and academic teachers to support meaningful learning, personal growth, and future employability.

For Teaching Assistants:

Provide individual and small group support in lessons across vocational and academic subjects. Support learners with emotional regulation, communication needs, and engagement challenges. Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and behaviour support plans. Foster a safe, supportive, and respectful classroom environment. Encourage independence and build strong, trusted relationships with learners. Support preparation and organisation of learning resources and classroom environments. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral staff, and external professionals.

For Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs):

All of the above, plus: Plan and deliver specific interventions under the guidance of teaching staff. Take responsibility for leading small group sessions or cover classes when required. Support with academic tracking, observation, and learner progress documentation. Mentor and coach Teaching Assistants where appropriate. Contribute to curriculum planning discussions and learner reviews.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

Experience working with learners with SEND, SEMH, or in alternative provision. A strong belief in the power of vocational education and inclusive practice. Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for working with vulnerable young people. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. For HLTA roles: HLTA status or equivalent, and experience delivering learning independently.

Pay: 21,367.50-33,680.29 per year
