Marshfield Primary School provides education for pupils between 3 and 11 years of age. There are currently 445 pupils on roll, plus 20 full-time equivalent pupils in the nursery.
At Marshfield, we continually strive to sustain high academic standards whilst developing a creative, learner-centred, skills-focused curriculum that is driven by the four purposes and inclusive of all learners.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, caring and reliable Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. The role will primarily involve working with younger pupils, including those with additional needs.
Our teaching assistants are recognised as enabling adults, adults who nurture and care for our children while also supporting them to become confident, curious and independent learners. This means:
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to ensure they feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Responding with creativity and flexibility to meet the needs of individual learners.
Encouraging children to think for themselves, problem-solve and develop resilience.
Providing inclusive support that enables every child to thrive and reach their potential.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
A nurturing and caring approach to working with children
The ability to work as part of a team
Creativity and flexibility in adapting to pupils needs and learning situations
Patience, professionalism and resilience
Experience of working with pupils requiring additional support
Good communication and interpersonal skills
A commitment to enabling all children to reach their full potential
High standards in basic skills
A love of learning
The ability to use their own initiative
An excellent understanding of safeguarding principles
The successful candidate will:
Work under the guidance of teaching staff and/or members of the school leadership team
Support individuals and groups of pupils to enable access to learning and to develop independence
Act as an enabling adult, fostering nurture, creativity and resilience in learners
Assist the teacher with the management of pupils in the classroom and beyond
Support pupils during break and lunchtimes
