At Rossington St Michael's, children are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to be part of an ambitious and growing Multi Academy Trust of 20 primary schools across Rotherham, Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley - but our school still feels like a family. We are known for our warm, supportive and nurturing environment, where every child - and every member of staff - is valued.
We are currently looking for a caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our lovely team on a temporary basis. This full-time role offers the chance to make a real difference to the life of a child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), providing 1:1 support to help them thrive both academically and socially. The child requires tailored support to access the curriculum, including assistance with some medical needs during the school day. Full training and ongoing support will be provided. The role also includes supporting other children in the classroom and promoting positive play and behaviour during playtimes and lunchtimes.
This is a temporary full time post working 30 hours per week, term time plus two days a year. The post is initially until July 2026, with a view to being extended.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference and who can provide consistent, compassionate care within a nurturing school environment. They will need excellent communication skills, the ability to engage and motivate children and will be a committed member of the whole school team. The successful applicant will need to work collaboratively with the class teacher and respond sensitively and confidently to the needs of the children. Applicants applying for the post must already hold a relevant recognised NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification. The successful candidate must have a minimum of Grade C/4 in GSCE English and Maths (or equivalent), and experience of working in a primary school setting.
We seek to appoint a Teaching Assistant who will support the school's vision and Christian values (you don't need to be a practicing Christian to apply), be willing to take part in staff development and be happy to join a caring, supportive and progressive team.
Visits to the school are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the school office.
There is also an opportunity to work 2 days a week as a teaching assistant. Please state on the application form if you would be interested in being considered for a part-time position.
