Our team of Teaching Assistants work under the direction of our teachers and senior staff, embracing the school's ethos. They undertake care and learning programs, supporting individuals or groups of pupils, including those with special educational needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will enable pupils to access learning and assist the teacher in managing both pupils and the classroom.
To support our teachers, you will create and maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive environment in line with lesson plans and assist with displaying pupils' work. You will also be required to attend and participate in relevant meetings, training sessions, and other learning activities, as well as engage in performance development as needed. This post is to work across all 5 days of the academy week and to attend work on inset days for essential training.
You will need:
relevant qualifications and/or experience for the role
excellent organisational and time management skills
strong communication and interpersonal skills
ability to work independently and as part of a team
confidence in using IT systems and software relevant to the role
a commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of pupils
working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes
ability to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving
full understanding of the range of support services/providers
ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
ability to relate well to children and adults
empathy and ability to analyse and determine appropriate actions
understanding of, and ability to comply with the requirements of safeguarding/Child Protection
ability to travel
ability to work flexibly outside normal hours if necessary
to be a positive role model, who is able to make positive relationships with children
to be a dedicated individual, who is hardworking and aspirational for our young people.
