Activate Learning are looking for outstanding individuals to join as Teaching Assistants to support our students. If you are kind, caring, friendly and genuinely interested in helping young people to thrive and do their best, we would love to hear from you.

A variety of working hours and contract types available. When submitting your application, please include your preferred working pattern e.g hours and days.
(Term time only salary calculator - your pay will be based on your working hours per week, multiplied by the number of weeks worked, plus 6 weeks holiday and will be spread equally over 12 months).

About the role

Farnham is the smaller of the three Surrey campuses and therefore this allows us to give our students a more personalised learning experience. Ideally, we would like our Teaching Assistants to have some experience within the areas of A level and Btec courses ranging from Media through to Law

As a teaching assistant at Activate Learning, you will have experience of working with young people or adults with a range of severe, complex, and moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities and/or behavioural needs.

You will be an individual who has the resilience and patience to develop independence in learners and to encourage them to take more responsibility for their own learning.
Teaching Assistants offer essential help to teachers within the classroom and support to staff within our campuses, it is essential that you have a co-operative working style with the ability to work as part of a team

The main duties will be assisting students in their classroom-based lessons and supporting self-directed study times with the student on a 1:1 basis. In addition to a student\'s study programme the LSA may also be following a bespoke programme of learning to support their development of life skills, independence, and employability.

You will have good communication skills to be able to work with tutors to ensure the delivery of an effective programme of further education and to work as part of a co-ordination team.

What do you need to be a successful Teaching Assistant at Activate Learning?

As a teaching assistant you will:

  • E Literate and competent in IT packages e.g, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
  • Experience within the areas of A Level and BTec courses
  • You will have a creative approach to motivating learners and an innovative approach to delivering support
  • Experience of working in an FE environment would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Level 3 support Assistant qualification or equivalent but this is not essential
