A Rewarding Opportunity...

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent's diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.
The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

As Team Leader within our Day Opportunities Service, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of support for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and autism. This is an opportunity to drive meaningful change, overseeing services within two vibrant day centres where innovation and compassion are at the heart of everything we do. You will be responsible for ensuring our services not only meet but exceed the highest standards, always striving to expand and enhance what we offer--especially for autistic individuals.

Your leadership will be central to the ongoing development of our programmes, as you work closely with the Team Manager to align our services with the Council's strategic vision. You'll be entrusted with designing and delivering a diverse range of activities that enrich lives and foster independence, while also safeguarding the wellbeing and dignity of every individual in our care. The role demands a keen eye for quality, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to manage resources effectively in a dynamic environment.

Collaboration is at the core of this position. You'll build strong partnerships with colleagues, families, and external organisations, ensuring that our services are integrated, responsive, and truly person-centred. As an ambassador for autism services, you will champion inclusion and raise awareness across the borough, helping to create a community where everyone is empowered to achieve their aspirations.

If you are ready to lead with vision, inspire your team, and make a lasting difference in the lives of others, this is your chance to join a forward-thinking service where your passion and expertise will be valued, and your impact will be felt every day.

The Person

Are you ready to make a real difference in people's lives? We're searching for someone who is not only compassionate and proactive, but who truly believes in the power of empowering adults with disabilities and autism to live life to the fullest. Your passion for inclusion and your drive to champion the rights and aspirations of others will set you apart.

You'll bring a positive, flexible attitude and a relentless commitment to delivering the highest standards of care. As a natural leader, you'll inspire and motivate your team, nurturing their growth and fostering a culture of collaboration and respect. Your communication skills will help you build strong, trusting relationships with customers, carers, families, colleagues, and external partners alike.

We value those who see challenges as opportunities--who remain calm, solution-focused, and resilient, even when faced with complex situations. Your approach will always be person-centred, celebrating diversity and promoting equality and inclusion at every turn. You'll be dedicated to your own professional development, eager to learn, reflect, and grow alongside your team.

To thrive in this role, you'll have hands-on experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and autism. You'll have previously led or supervised teams in care or support settings, and you'll know how to design and deliver engaging activity programmes or community-based services. Your understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment, and quality assurance will be second nature.

You'll hold a relevant health and social care qualification--such as NVQ Level 3 or above--or an equivalent. Additional training or accreditation in autism or related specialisms is highly desirable, and you'll be open to further learning as the service evolves.
