Chance Children's Home provides a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for up to four young people aged 8-16 who have experienced emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). We are a trauma-informed home committed to helping young people heal, grow, and achieve positive futures.
The Role
We're seeking a
Team Leader
to support the Deputy Manager in the daily running of the home and lead a team of Residential Support Workers. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care in line with Ofsted regulations and organisational standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines direct care, staff supervision, and operational management. You'll act as the first point of contact for staff during shifts and help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise care staff during shifts, ensuring consistent, professional practice.
Support the Deputy Manager in maintaining high standards of care, safety, and compliance.
Oversee daily routines, staffing, and record-keeping.
Act as the first point of escalation for safeguarding issues or incidents.
Build positive relationships with young people, supporting their emotional and social development.
Model trauma-informed and restorative approaches to behaviour management.
Mentor and coach staff, promoting teamwork and reflective practice.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including logs, reports, and risk assessments.
Maintain a safe and welcoming home environment through regular checks and audits.
About You
Essential:
Aged 21+ (Ofsted requirement)
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent
Minimum 3 years' experience in residential childcare
Enhanced DBS check (required prior to employment)
Proven experience leading or supervising staff
Excellent understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and child protection
Strong communication, organisation, and decision-making skills
Resilient, empathetic, and committed to supporting young people with complex needs
Willing to work flexible shifts, including sleep-ins
Desirable:
Level 4/5 Diploma in Leadership for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
Experience supporting Ofsted inspections or audits
Full UK driving licence
Knowledge of trauma-informed or therapeutic care models
