Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

"This is an exciting opportunity to join the Hunterston Site Maintenance team in the capacity of the Maintenance Team Leader. You will be responsible for control and supervision of the maintenance technician team carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance to maintain compliance.


As an effective team leader, the post holder will be responsible for people management, performance management, work control and supervision, communications, resource management and management of systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:





Reporting to the Maintenance Delivery Manager you will be responsible for:


Assigning tasks to the team members ensuring they are suitably qualified and experienced to carry out such tasks. Monitoring compliance by control and supervision of staff and activities. Ensuring all team members complete the training identified on their Training Profiles so that they are 'Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons' within agreed timescales. Interface with other Team Leaders who are responsible for support service and programs onsite. Complying with the Health & Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality policies, setting to work standards, work instructions and risk assessments compliance. Always upholding Company values by putting safety and environmental protection first. Building a team based on trust by acting with integrity and respect for others; and ensuring that we promote and support innovation and efficiency to achieve successful delivery. Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely and within environmental parameters of the power station. Be willing to work within contaminated areas, wearing full face mask. Ability to read and understand a full range of engineering drawings.

Qualifications and Experience:




Appropriate technical qualifications e.g. City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ level 3 (NQF Level 3) or equivalent (essential). Experience in a technical discipline in an industrial environment (essential). Supervisory Management qualification ILM Level 3 or equivalent (desirable). Knowledge of relevant industrial, radiological and safety standards and procedures (essential). People Management experience in a technical discipline (desirable). Experience of working in the Nuclear Industry (Desirable).

Flexible working - where possible. The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee's annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers. There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
