Role Overview

As a Technical Architect at Akoni Technologies, you will be responsible for designing end-to-end technical solutions that meet business needs, technical standards, and security requirements. You will lead the architectural design and decision-making across client projects, working closely with delivery teams, stakeholders, and partners. The ideal candidate has a strong background in modern cloud architecture, digital platforms, and enterprise integration.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design of scalable, secure, and high-performance technical solutions for client projects Translate business requirements into architectural blueprints, including system, data, security, and integration designs Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, developers, and delivery managers to ensure architectural alignment Support the development of technical roadmaps, solution strategies, and reference architectures Review code, technical documentation, and guide best practices and emerging technologies Engage with clients to present architecture options, resolve technical risks, and support solution assurance Ensure solutions align with GOV.UK Service Standards, Technical Code of Practice, and relevant frameworks (e.g. GDS, NCSC) Support pre-sales activities, including shaping technical responses, estimates, and proposals Mentor and support engineers and junior architects across delivery teams

Skills and Experience

Essential:

Proven experience as a Technical Architect or Lead Engineer in enterprise or public sector projects Deep understanding of cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), microservices, APIs, DevOps and containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker) Experience with integration patterns, data modelling, and security architecture Understanding of architectural frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and agile delivery methodologies Strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to assess and balance technical debt, delivery constraints, and long-term sustainability Working knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, or similar security standards

Desirable:

Experience working in or with UK Government departments or public sector programmes Hands-on experience with ServiceNow platform architecture (ITSM, ITOM, GRC, SecOps) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep), and GitOps practices Understanding of accessibility and digital inclusion standards Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g. Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
