Job Overview



As Technical Designer, you are responsible for producing workshop drawings for every hut and their components. You will work very closely with the Product Designer to ensure that all designs meet customer specifications, are ready for manufacturing and are represented accurately on drawings. Your technical understanding of manufacturing and your excellent communication skills are key to successful collaboration with our sales and workshop teams.

Responsibilities

:

Workshop Drawings:

Create detailed and accurate workshop drawings in a timely manner for each hut, incorporating any bespoke features and exact measurements.

Design for Manufacture:

Apply your technical knowledge and experience to ensure that all designs are optimised for manufacturing, balancing aesthetics with practicality.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure all drawings meet our high standards of quality and craftsmanship, and are produced on time, maintaining our reputation for excellence.

Drawing Control

: Carefully manage drawing change and version control, making sure that only correct and up to date drawings are on the shop floor and in customer files.

Technical Leadership:

Provide technical guidance and leadership for the workshop team every day, addressing design-related questions or issues that arise during production.

Customer Specification:

Work closely with the sales teams to ensure customer specifications are accurately captured and pricing implications of design changes are calculated and agreed.

Continuous Improvement:

Ensure that errors and design changes are corrected promptly, and find ways to improve designs and processes, taking on board feedback from the wider team.

Required Experience and Skills



Technical Proficiency:

Strong technical understanding of timber building, furniture, electrical, and plumbing design as well design for manufacture and construction processes.

Drawing Skills:

Proficiency in using SketchUp to create detailed and accurate workshop drawings including complete huts, assemblies, wiring, plumbing and furniture components.

Attention to Detail:

Exceptional attention to detail to ensure all designs meet specifications and quality standards.

Customer Focus:

Ability to understand and interpret customer requirements, translating them into accurate and functional designs in close collaboration with the Product Designer.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details clearly and effectively.

Problem-Solving:

Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing design challenges and making improvements.

Team Player:

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work seamlessly with all members of the team

Desired Experience and Skills



Relevant Regulations:

Experience and knowledge of relevant caravan and mobile home standards and regulations including the versions of BS3632.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 35,000.00-40,000.00 per year
