Role Purpose

This professional will perform technical energy and optimisation assessments across a wide range of building environments, such as commercial, retail, leisure, industrial and production sites. These assessments are to be carried out in line with ASHRAE level 1 and 2 energy audit guidance, as well as the requirements relating to the UK\xe2\x80\x99s ESOS legislation and wider European interpretation of Article 8 EED legislation. In addition, the person will be involved with the delivery of retro commissioning and commissioning studies, Building Management System (BMS) optimisation projects, and other technical surveys and assessments. The candidate should be able to perform these studies with limited oversight and competent knowledge of energy efficient operation of building mechanical systems, control systems, lighting systems, building envelopes, and other energy-related systems. This role will require a level of flexibility and travel both inside and outside the UK.

What this job involves

Energy Auditing

Conduct building energy assessments to the following standards: ASHRAE Level 1 (Light Touch) and 2 (Deep Dive).

Conduct building energy assessments to the following standards: ESOS, UK and non-UK, EED Article 8 (per relevant territory)

Identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECM\xe2\x80\x99s) through onsite assessments and review of Building Management System (BMS) sequence of operations.

Calculate energy, carbon, and utility cost savings as well as implementation costs following industry standards to recommend capital projects and operational improvements.

Analyse monthly and interval utility data trends as well as BMS trends to benchmark and target investigation of potential ECM\xe2\x80\x99s.

Lead identification and prioritization of energy capital projects, operational changes, and equipment control changes (including central plant systems) that result in reduced energy consumption and target specific customer goals.

This may include HVAC equipment and controls, lighting, building envelope, demand response, plug loads, distributed generation (solar, fuel cells, cogeneration), and evaluation of new technologies and services.

Sub metering infrastructure and system networks

Development and delivery of assessment reports within specified timelines.

Collaboration

Works with building staff (facility managers, engineers, technicians, service providers) in identifying, scoping, and implementing energy efficiency improvements.

Collaborate with other Jones Lang LaSalle energy and sustainability managers to share and learn best practices and publish case studies of successful initiatives. Leverage JLL experts in renewable energy, energy supply procurement, and building intelligence tools to meet client goals.

Continually monitor industry trends, evaluate new products and services for potential, and participate in industry working groups.

Establish a positive rapport with both JLL and client staff and management to ensure a high level of customer service.

Work closely with engineering and JLL Technology to establish robust management processes to support the implementation of technology, covering fault detection and diagnosis, advanced (Smart) metering and the integration of IoT sensors.

Desired skills and experience for this job

Requirements \xe2\x80\x93 Essential

Robust experience reviewing and assessing the technical capabilities and improvement pathways across a diverse built environment, including commercial office space (both landlord and tenant), retail space, leisure facilities, datacentres, industrial and manufacturing sites

Experience working with commercial real estate (CRE) organisations, engaging with key stakeholder groups, e.g., Client contacts, property, and facilities managers

Experience conducting energy efficiency surveys/audits within UK for ESOS Phase 3 compliance

Experience conducting energy efficiency surveys/audits within the EU region for EED, Article 8 Phase 3 compliance

Experience of country-specific interpretation of Article 8 EED legislation for Phase 3

Experience of compiling ESOS/Article 8 EED compliance plans to determine building/transport audit strategy for a client.

Relevant professional experience, e.g., ESOS Lead Assessor accreditation, Article 8 EED EU accreditations (for three or more EU countries)

Relevant degree is desirable and/or masters \xe2\x80\x93 e.g., Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Management etc.

5+ years of experience with energy auditing, commissioning, retro commissioning, energy management, performance contracting or energy engineering

Ability to perform energy analysis and efficiency calculations independently with limited instruction and oversight

Experience evaluating energy savings projects with large central plants including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, compressed air and load side management

Ability to interrogate a Building Management System to assess operating conditions for corrective actions, savings opportunities, trend data needed for analysis and verification of sequences of operations.

Familiarity with CIBSE Guide F: Energy Efficiency in Buildings

Familiarity with ASHRAE Standards 90.1, 62.1 and 55.1

Familiarity with sub-metering infrastructures

Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to interface seamlessly with all levels of management. Comfortable working in virtual environments with remote teams

Attention to detail and accuracy, in written, visual and numeric work and proven project management skills

Takes initiative with limited directions and acts as a team player with ability to bring alternate points of view to the discussion and analysis

Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills

Ability to multi-task and effectively organize responsibilities with sound project management and leadership skills.

Requirements \xe2\x80\x93 Desirable

ESOS Lead Assessor accreditation, plus other EU audit accreditations.

Second/multiple languages.

Knowledge and appreciation of energy markets and energy procurement globally

Ability to travel both within the UK and throughout the EMEA region.

Strong project management skills and an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a high pressure, deadline driven environments.

Knowledge of environmental reporting and improvement programs such as ISO 05001, 14001, as well as wider UK and EU sustainability legislation.

Familiar with carbon accounting techniques.
