We operate on an office-based contract model, but support hybrid working where possible. This means you'll need to be based within reasonable travel distance of the office and able to attend in person when business needs require, typically 3 days per week, though this may vary by team or project. Flexibility to be on site when needed is essential.
Salary: 64,000 - 80,000 dependent on experience, plus bonus, market-leading pension scheme and range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

As we continue this major infrastructure initiative and preparation for construction, within this our Civil Works Programme (CWP) ensures that all civil engineering designs meet project requirements, are delivered on time and within budget, and are ready for construction.
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Technical Engineering Manager to oversee the end-to-end design sequence within the Civil Works Programme to ensure timely delivery in a Design & Build context.
The Role
As a Technical Engineering Manager you'll be a key part of our Technical Directorate and report directly to the Programme Engineering Manager. In this role, you'll take the lead in defining technical requirements, overseeing contractor design work, managing design changes and ensuring that safety and regulatory inputs are fully integrated into every stage of the process.
You'll be responsible for making sure all designs meet our assurance standards and are reviewed by qualified experts. Your focus will be on validating technical requirements, aligning them with regulatory and safety expectations, and resolving any technical issues or design changes that arise.
You'll work closely with the Responsible Designer to scope and plan annual work packages and collaborate with the Civil Works Alliance to ensure design delivery aligns with construction schedules. You'll also maintain configuration control, lead structured technical reviews and verify that all design activities are carried out by suitably qualified personnel.
For our marine and tunnelling works, as the TEM you'll hold decision-making authority at key project Hold Points, using your expertise and input to guide progress. You'll play a critical role in identifying and managing technical risks, making sure any impacts on cost, schedule and quality are clearly understood and effectively addressed.
