We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to join our Geology team!

Reporting to the Technical Head, the successful candidate will work within the team, scoping, undertaking and delivering technically excellent work across geoscience projects. Projects will primarily utilise client-provided seismic and well datasets, alongside in-house geological and data products, plus associated petroleum system data.

As a Technical Lead you will provide advice on and contribute to both multi-client and proprietary studies on regional to block scale with a particular emphasis on seismic and other geophysical work. This would include tasks such as synthetic generation, seismic-well ties, 2D and/or 3D seismic interpretation, seismic attribute extraction, geobody definition and visualisation, velocity modelling, depth conversion, subsurface mapping, and identification/definition of hydrocarbon plays and prospects.

Project work can include large scale regional studies through to quick turn-around data room evaluations. Applicants must have a solid understanding of integrating geophysical observations and results with other disciplines such as seismic processing, sequence stratigraphy, depositional/facies models, play analysis and prospect resource-risk estimates.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Responsible for undertaking, managing and delivering technically excellent project work in line with corporate standards and industry best practice
  • Provision of technical scope & deliverables for proposal generation
  • Provision of technical advice for multi-client product generation
  • Collaborator to the in-house Peer Review Process, particularly on integrated studies and seismic-focused projects
  • Undertake coaching, training, developing and mentoring of peers and junior staff regarding the effective use of geophysical tools and techniques and best-practice approaches to seismic interpretation
  • Contributor to Business Development activities
  • Developing geophysical workflows
  • Advise on relevant software tools, particularly in relation to seismic data and interpretation
  • Taking a role in the integration of discipline expertise
  • Responsible for working closely with the SI group on processing projects.
  • Lead technical development and innovation of new and existing products and services
  • Proactively stay up to date on technological advances and industry trends which influence future projects, new research opportunities or technological ventures, to contribute to business value
  • Active in publication and presentation of articles and supporting others to do so
The role has an international remit from a single base in either our North Wales or Crawley offices in the UK, where a blend of office and UK home working is possible.

Qualifications

A BSc in geological/geophysical sciences, but ideally with an additional MSc or PhD in a geoscience discipline

Skills and Experiences
  • Advanced technical knowledge, competence and scientific excellence in their chosen discipline
  • Significant experience in an E&P Operating company or Petroleum Geoscience consultancy
  • A proven track record in their key discipline, preferably with multi-regional and/or global geoscience experience
  • Highly conversant with the Schlumberger\'s Petrel suite of applications
  • Experience of delivering technical presentations
  • Integrated Project Management experience

  • Technical Leadership skills: applicable to tackling E&P subsurface challenge, most importantly related to geophysical and seismic interpretation solutions
  • Project Management: ability to keep a project on track and deliver excellence
  • Presentation skills: can prepare and deliver high quality professional presentations
  • Creative problem-solving skills: analyses situations in a timely manner, diagnoses problems, identifies key issues, establishes and evaluates most appropriate course of action
