JOB SUMMARY



Working as part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Technical Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in driving commercial growth through the acquisition and retention of key business accounts. This is a senior strategic position responsible for overseeing technical sales and business development activities across the company's diverse market sectors. The post-holder will utilise their sales and manufacturing knowledge, ideally from a plastic background to deliver commercially successful, technically robust solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations.

This role includes full responsibility for managing the technical sales pipeline from lead generation through to post-sale relationship management. The Technical Sales Manager will also contribute to strategic decision-making within SMT, support long-term commercial planning, and represent the company at trade events and customer engagements.

QUALIFICATIONS



Degree or HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, or similar technical discipline (Desirable) Vocational or technical training in polymer processing or rotational moulding techniques (Desirable) NVQ Level 3 in Sales/Team Leadership or equivalent (Desirable)

SKILLS



Experienced background in manufacturing ideally the plastic's industry Proven experience in technical B2B sales, with a track record of securing and managing high-value accounts Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to build and negotiate profitable client contracts An basic understanding and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications High proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce or similar) Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - with the ability to present technical solutions clearly to a range of stakeholders Experience working collaboratively with internal departments including production, design, quality, and logistics and reporting at a senior management level Strong project and pipeline management capability Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities Ability to lead, motivate and influence both direct and indirect teams

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Key Objectives:

Lead the technical sales function, managing all stages of the sales process from enquiry through to contract delivery and after-sales support. Identify and develop new business opportunities in target markets aligned to Rototek's growth strategy. Regularly visit customer sites to cultivate strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional business. Provide accurate information, work proactively, engage with internal staff and customers to ensure the best customer service. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including design engineers, production managers, and quality assurance to develop and deliver customer-centric solutions. Maintain and grow long-term relationships with key accounts, ensuring a high level of service, technical support, and customer satisfaction. Provide technical guidance to customers during product development phases, supporting DFM (Design for Manufacture), material selection, and tooling strategy. Deliver clear and accurate technical proposals, quotations, and commercial documentation. Contribute to the company's wider commercial strategy through participation in SMT discussions and planning sessions. Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to inform business planning. Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and client site visits as a brand ambassador for Rototek. Generate monthly sales forecasts and reports for review by the Operations Director and Managing Director. Assist with company budget plans and cashflow forecast. Forecast customer budgets by positive communications and relationships Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks during all customer interactions and proposals. Carrying out any other functions as deemed necessary by the chain of command.

This role includes UK travel. A driver's license is essential



Package Summary:



Salary between 45k and 50k depending on experience Bonus potential of up to 15% of salary EMI Shares, this is part of our transition to an employee owned business You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week (Monday -Friday). 25 days annual leave per year plus bank holidays. This increases by 1 day after 2 full years completed service, then another day after 4 years and another day after 6 years service - up to a maximum of 28 days plus bank holidays. Days are deducted annually from leave allowance for a full business closure at Christmas. Pension contribution is 4% employee and 3% employer. Death in Service benefit.
