Location: Valleys Innovation Centre, Abercynon (fixed base) - Hybrid/working at various school sites



Hours: Full Time for 18 Months (37 hours per week), flexible working policy



Type of Contract: Temporary

Rhondda Cynon Taff wish to appoint a Dietetic Support Officer to work at Valleys Innovation Centre, CF45 4SN to complement our existing team. The post is temporary for a period of 18 months.



Catering Services are incorporated into the 21st Century Schools & Transformation Division. This diverse catering team boasts a portfolio of many skillsets, which link together to support and co-ordinate the daily delivery of School meals & the Community Meals service, and other projects within Rhondda Cynon Taf.



We are looking for a Dietetic Support Officer to join our dedicated dietetic team, supporting the nutritional needs of pupils with additional learning needs and clinical conditions, across our special school settings. As a Dietetic Support Officer, you will work closely with the School Catering Dietitian and the Assistant School Catering Dietitian to develop and deliver therapeutic diets, manage allergen compliance and provide hands on guidance across special school settings.



The successful candidate will assist to promote the Welsh Government's Nutritional agenda in Schools, through positive engagement and education of all parties involved in the care of pupils. This will include working with pupils and their families, catering staff and school staff to review individual needs and supporting to implement bespoke menus with reasonable adjustments.



Key Responsibilities

Assess and implement special dietary requirements for pupils, including allergens, texture modifications (IDDSI), and PEG feeding. Support the development of tailored menus, which reflect medical, cultural and ethical needs. Provide training and guidance to kitchen and school staff. Ensure legally compliant food labelling and allergen information. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians and GP's. Maintain accurate digital records and contribute to service improvement. Promote awareness of inclusive nutrition and healthy eating in schools. Advise on procurement, recipe development and product evaluation.

The successful candidate will: -

Be a degree-qualified Nutritionist or Dietitian with relevant experience (including newly qualified professionals with a passion for special needs education). Possess knowledge of food legislation, allergen management and the IDDSI framework. Have excellent communication, organisational and training skills. Have experience of working in educational, healthcare or catering environments.
