Horizon Healthcare are seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team for approximately eight months (maternity cover). We are a large GP Practice in Derby City Centre and have a diverse population of 26,800+ patients. The hours will be 22.5 over three days, to be confirmed at interview.
Previous experience in a GP surgery is essential for this fixed term position.
The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, whether face to face or by telephone, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks in a busy medical environment. This role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for patients.
Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
Manage appointment scheduling, including booking, rescheduling, and cancelling appointments as necessary.
Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries with accurate information.
Maintain patient records by updating information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Skills
Strong administrative skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
Proficient in using office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones.
Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous but not essential.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and teamwork is essential for success in this role.
