2-month full-time contract, with the option to continue on a flexible bank basis at 14.12 per hour (including holiday pay)

About the Role
As a Kitchen Assistant at Brookhaven, you'll work closely with our Head Chef to maintain high standards of food preparation, cleanliness, and safety. You'll also support service users involved in kitchen-based recovery activities through our Therapeutic Earnings Programme. Key duties include:
Assisting with food preparation and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment
Cleaning and storing equipment, utensils, and surfaces in line with hygiene standards
Clearing and cleaning dining areas before and after meals, and emptying waste bins
Ensuring food stock, crockery, and cutlery are available and stored correctly
Supporting service users in therapeutic kitchen roles and contributing to ongoing improvements and inspections

Brookhaven is a 23-bed, mixed-gender open rehabilitation service in Bamber Bridge, supporting adults aged 18+ with enduring mental health needs. The service provides structured routines and meaningful community connections through leisure, education, and vocational opportunities.

Requirements
Previous experience working in a similar kitchen or catering environment
Understanding of safe food preparation, kitchen hygiene, and cleaning practices
Awareness of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), infection control, and Health & Safety regulations
Willingness to support and supervise service users in a kitchen setting as part of their recovery
