The Opportunity



The TESCI Project Manager will oversee the development and expansion of the TESCI network, connecting researchers in the field of engineering and, physical sciences, formal and informal social care stakeholders, and individuals with lived experience. This role includes managing logistics, handling expenses, and leading communications through social media, press releases, and website management. The role includes working with the project Lead and steering committee to ensuring activities take place to build capacity amongst researchers, horizon scan to create a roadmap to guide EPSRC for future funding calls, and outreach and dissemination, engaging with policy makers and ensuring EDI is integral to all activities. The role supports TESCI's vision to create an interdisciplinary and collaborative network connecting engineers, physical scientists, social care stakeholders, and service users to identify and work to address unmet needs in social care. TESCI's aim is to co-produce research proposals for technologies and interventions that build a more equitable and sustainable future for social care to help people live their lives well for longer, with dignity and independence.


The post-holder will take responsibility for overall programme management of the network , including the design and coordination of the associated activities, supporting academic colleagues who are contributing to the networks activities and initiatives, and leading on strategic interactions with key external stakeholders. Working in close liaison with colleagues, the post-holder will ensure and oversee the efficient delivery of the networks activities, profile and stated strategic objectives. The post is physically located within the School of Informatics, the individual will work in close collaboration with staff based in Informatics, the Co-Lead and other related academics in other UK HE institutions industry partners and stakeholders.


This post is advertised as part-time (28 hours per week), however, we are open to considering flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.



Your skills and attributes for success:


Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject plus relevant experience, or vocational experience in progressively demanding roles involving significant project management in academic, industry, or third sector environments. Knowledge of contemporary strategic issues in social care innovation, and a comprehensive understanding of the UK's interdisciplinary environment Broad understanding of the social care and health research landscape, and awareness of the academic system to deliver creative solutions. Evidence of leadership capability, including experience building and maintaining a network of senior stakeholders, with excellent influencing, organisational, and time management skills. Experience in managing project budgets preferably within an academic environment. Experience in event organisation Understanding of university structures and procedures.
