Role Summary
We are seeking qualified and experienced RT Level 2 Technicians to join our team at Rockwood Composites. This role is essential in ensuring the quality and safety of composite castings. The successful candidate will operate a 3D X-ray machine, interpret results, and ensure compliance with stringent customer specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, familiarity with codes and standards, and the ability to train or guide less experienced personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate conventional film or digital radiography units, including X-ray.
Interpret and evaluate radiographs to identify internal defects, compare findings to customer requirements, and determine if repairs or rework are necessary.
Define the limitations of the method, and adapt NDT codes, standards, and procedures for specific working conditions.
Ensure compliance with internal and external standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements, such as AS9100 and NADCAP.
Organise and report the results of radiographic tests to the relevant departments, such as Engineering and Quality.
Adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Provide guidance and on-the-job training for less experienced personnel and other trainees as assigned.
This position has frequented internal contact with Engineering, Quality and other Manufacturing departments.
Person Specification / Knowledge & Experience
Proficiency in operating and setting up radiographic equipment.
In-depth knowledge of radiography principles, films, image formation, and processing.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, quality standards, and customer acceptance criteria.
Understanding of radiation safety principles and practices.
Familiarity with applicable codes, standards (like AS9100), and specifications.
Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with other departments.
Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
